The ATN Section is primarily responsible for attending to requests of distressed Filipino nationals for advice or assistance in case of arrest or detention, emergency travel, or death of a Filipino national. Likewise, the Section offers its good offices to enhance or promote unity among Filipino community, groups or associations, and to strengthen family ties.

Where appropriate, the Section provides legal advice and makes representations with the Hong Kong government, specifically with the police and immigration offices, for or on behalf of a Filipino national. Any Filipino citizen who needs legal advice or assistance is encouraged to visit the ATN Section. ATN staff also visit Filipino nationals under the custody of the correctional services of Hong Kong on a regular basis.

As part of its regular activities, the ATN Section holds a Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) every last Sunday of the month for newly arrived OFWs. The PAOS is designed to provide Filipino workers basic information on local laws governing their employment and conditions of stay, the local Chinese culture, and the various services offered by the Philippine Consulate General.
