PCG commemorates Dr. Jose P. Rizal's 111th Death Anniversary

In commemoration of Dr. Jose P. Rizal's 111th death Anniversary, the officers and staff of the Philppine Consulate Generla in Hong Kong held a wreath-laying ceremony on Sunday, 30 December 2007 at three different locations simultaneously:

  1. At 2 REDNAXELA TERRACE, where Rizal lived with his family and held a clinic. The site has been officially marked by the Antiquities Authority of Hong Kong.

  2. On CENTURY SQUARE building, where a marker can be found just outside Life Restaurant on the site where Dr. Rizal's clinic used to stand; and

  3. On MORRISON HILL ROAD, where a marker stands on the site where the first RP flag was sewn.

The simultaneous ceremonies included the wreathe-laying, short remarks by the officiating officers, and taking of photographs.

 

2 Rednaxela Terrace:

 

Consul General Alejandrino A. Vicente, assisted by Vice Consul Val Roque, lays a wreath at the marker of the former residence and clinic in Hong Kong of Dr. Jose Rizal at 2 Rednaxela Terrace during commemorative ceremonies to mark the 111th anniversary of his death on 30 December 2007.

 

In his remarks, the Consul General urged Filipinos to look to Rizal for inspiration in serving one’s country and people.

Century Square Building:

 

Consul Kira Christianne Danganan-Azucena assisted by Jimson Vitto of SSS, offers a wreath at the marker on the Century Square Building, D’Aguilar St., where the clinic of Dr. Jose Rizal used to stand.

Consul Danganan-Azucena enjoins attendees of the wreath-laying ceremony to emulate Rizal in working for peace and prosperity for one’s country.

Morisson Hill:

 

Consul Victorio Mario Dimagiba Jr. leads the wreath-laying ceremony at Morrison Hill, where the first Philippine flag was sewn.
