2007 Concert in the Park Goes to Piazza and Culture in Motion

The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong participated in two cultural events organized by agencies of the Hong Kong government held on 9 December 2007.

 

 

2007 CONCERT IN THE PARK TO PIAZZA

 

This annual concert is a project co-organized by the Consulate General with  the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) of Hong Kong, in cooperation with the Hong Kong Musicians Union (HKMU).

 

Mrs. Kira Christianne Danganan-Azucena (center), Consul and Acting Head of Post, together with Mrs. Vivian Yeung (right), Chief Manager for Audience Building and Entertainment Festivals of the LCSD, and Mr. Jun Santiago (left), President of the HKMU, opened the concert with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

 

The concert featured talented Filipino musicians in Hong Kong:

Tony Carpio’s Big Band Brown Sugar Band
 
Ice Box Band Bert Amparado with HKMU Latin Band
 
Audience dance and listen to the live band performance. An enthusiastic crowd dances to the beat of the music.

Stan Yumang (left), E.J. Emata (center) and Ricky Sadioda (left), DJs of Good Evening Kabayan, hosted the concert.

Sponsors for the concert included AFreight (Asia Pacific) Ltd., Barkadahan sa Smartone, Jollibee (HK) Ltd., Philippine Food Products, San Miguel Brewery (HK) Ltd., and Mr. Rubin Benny Dollano.

 

CULTURE IN MOTION

On the same day, Post also participated in the culminating activity of the cultural program, “Culture in Motion,” begun in 2005 by the Constitutional Mainland Affairs Office of the Hong Kong government. With the theme “A Celebration of Harmony,” the event  showcased the different cultures of the six countries that participated in the program, namely, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Pakistan and Nepal.

A demonstration of the ‘tinikling’ dance led by the Philippine Academy Dance Ensemble (PADE).
