New procedure to apply for machine-readable passport (MRP) effective 04 February 2008

"The Philippine Consulate General advises the public that starting 04 February 2008, a new procedure to apply for a machine-readable passport (MRP) will be implemented.

Processing of MRP applications takes 20 working days.  Applicants are therefore advised to submit their applications at least one month before their scheduled travel or before the expiration of their Hong Kong work visas to avoid inconvenience.  Applicants are also reminded that Philippine passports may be renewed six (6) months before the expiry date.
