Awaits Return of 67 Teachers From Hong Kong
The Department of Education is calling on sixty-seven (67) Balik- Turo teacher
applicants from Hong Kong to report to their assigned divisions by 31 March
2003. This was relayed to the Consulate by Undersecretary Ramon C. Bacani
who said that there will be no further extension of the new deadline for them to
return to the Philippines. The concerned applicants are advised to report to
Ms. Rosita L. Santiago, Personnel Director or to call her in Manila at tel. 832-6336682.
The Department of Education is also considering the applications of nine (9)
other OFWs from Hong Kong who have submitted their complete documents but were not interviewed. These individuals are advised to contact Mrs. Lolita
C. Brana, President of the National Organization of Professional Teachers
(NOPT) at tel. 96751647 for purposes of scheduling their interview.
The Department of Education has received 504 applications from
OFW-teachers in Hong Kong for the Balik- Turo program. Of this number, three
hundred twenty seven (327) have approved appointments while ten (10) appointments are still with the Civil Service Commission Field Office for
attestation.
