DepED Needs More Teachers From Hong Kong

More eligible teachers are needed by the Department of Education to complete the 500 items allotted for Balik- Turo applicants from Hong Kong. The information was relayed to the Consulate by Mrs. Lolita Brana, President of the National Organization of Professional Teachers (NOPT)-HK Chapter who is currently in Manila. She said that they (together with PRC and DepEd officials) were able to visit the teachers who were given teaching positions in various parts of the country.

According to Mrs. Brana, the Dep Ed officials stressed that despite the resignation of Secretary Roco, the government is still commited to implement the Balik Turo program. However, only 375 applications were so far received from Hong Kong. Mrs. Brana said that applications will be accepted until the end of September 2002

If you are a licensed teacher, with or without teaching experience, and willing to return and/or practice your teaching profession in the Philippines, you can submit your application together with the following documents to the Office of Undersecretary Ramon C.
