Tourism Road Show Arrives in Hong Kong

Fresh from successful tourism sales mission in Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou, the energetic Philippine Tourism Secretary Richard J. Gordon now embarks on a 4-day tourism road show in Hong Kong. Backed by a 69-man delegation, Secretary Gordon will be promoting "Visit the Philippines 2003" in the territory from 14-17 September 2002.

Secretary Gordon's first day takes him to the Consulate General of the Philippines where he will be met by officers and staff led by Consul General Victoria Bataclan. A simple dinner as well as a tour of the recently inaugurated Consulate General premises is slated.

On Sunday, 15 September, Secretary Gordon will be promoting the Volunteer 12 (V12) Program by opening the "V12 Musical Extravaganza / Presentation" beginning 10:00 a.m. at the Bayanihan Center in Kennedy Town. Jointly organized by the Philippine Consulate and MWJ Productions, the show will feature popular Philippine performing artists such as Viktoria, Tots Tolentino, Maso Diez, and Jonathan Badon. The free show will also feature games, raffle prizes, and talents from various Filipino community organizations. Refreshments will be served.

Secretary Gordon will then proceed to address the gathering of the Bicol Migrants Workers also at the Bayanihan Center. After the Bayanihan activity, Secretary Gordon will toss the ceremonial ball in the basketball match between the V12 team and the Hong Kong Builders Association team at the Chai Wan Indoor Games Hall.

On Monday, 16 September, Secretary Gordon is set to meet Hong Kong's Secretary for Economic Development, Mr. Stephen Ip at the Government House.

The highlight of Secretary Gordon's Hong Kong visit commences with the official launch of the "Visit Philippines 2003" before the travel and trade sectors at Salons 3 and 4 of the JW Marriott Hotel from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A dinner reception immediately follows at the Ballroom of the same hotel.

Several media interviews have also been lined up for Secretary Gordon among them TIME Asia, South China Morning Post, CNN, Asian Wall Street Journal, Asian Hotel & Catering Times, TTG, and Hotel Asia Pacific.
