Every year, we celebrate Independence Day to honor the courageous action of our forefathers who freed us from the bondage of slavery. In this new era, Filipinos have joined hands to fight a different kind of war — the war against poverty, and against threat to peace and progress. Throughout our nation’ history, Filipinos have been known to have the courage and faith to rise above these difficulties. We have remained steadfast in our efforts to build a country of peace and a nation united in quest for prosperity and progress. On this Independence Day, we pay tribute to our workers, especially those who are toiling in the foreign land. Your contributions to the nation’s development have been of great help to our economy. Mabuhay ang malayang Pilipino!
