Consulate to Form Cultural Core Groups in Hong Kong
January 2005
18 January 2005, Hong Kong SAR. The Philippine Consulate General in HK
SAR is pleased to announce that one of its priority projects in 2005 is
the formation of cultural core groups on Philippine dance, music, and
drama which would take advantage of the many talented Filipinos –
individuals and groups alike, in Hong Kong.
The Consulate believes that the cultural core groups can be tapped for a
series of shows in Hong Kong that would showcase ‘the best in the
Filipino”– our traits, traditions, values and cultures.
The Consulate is tapping the support and cooperation of some Filipino
professionals now based in Hong Kong like Messrs. Nobel Gabasan and
Michael Lopez for music; Messrs. Amuer Calderon and Victor Madrona for
dance; and Ms. Armida Azada for drama/acting. The support and cooperation
of the Diocesan Pastoral Centre for Filipinos (DPCF) led by Sr. Aida
Casambre is likewise being requested for this endeavor.
Considering that the project would entail hard work, logistics, training
and skills, the Consulate has been assured of support and guidance from
the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), the National Commission for
Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) on
such programs.
In this regard, the Consulate is inviting all Filipinos with talents and
passion for
singing, dancing or acting to join the cultural core groups. Interested
participants must be willing to undergo auditions, committed to further
improve their talents by attending regular trainings/rehearsals, and
willing to join performances in HK for a cause or for free.
For more details and/or if you want to register for audition, please
contact the Consulate’s Cultural Office at 2823 8536. The audition
schedules will be announced later.
