First PEPT in Hong Kong

The Philippine Consulate General in HK, in cooperation with the Philippine
Department of Education (DepEd) is conducting the first
Philippine
Educational Placement Test (PEPT) for Secondary level
in HK on 4 December 2005. The other implementors of the project include
the Bayanihan Trust Foundation, and Defending Family Values Foundation,
Inc. To help applicants to review, tutors and teachers are being asked to
volunteer. They will be coming from National Organization of Professional
Teachers (NOPT) -Philippines and non-members of NOPT.
The PEPT is
a special form of educational assistance instituted by the Department of
Education. It gives recognition to the value and potential of learning
gained outside of the formal school system and accredits out-of-school
work with examination and shall give credits for such capabilities and
skills which are learned. This program enables Overseas Filipino Workers
to upgrade their academic level (elementary or secondary), for re-entry
into formal school, job entry, job promotion and also self-fulfillment.
The PEPT is
a battery of academic tests used to assess the basic learning skills and
competencies in various areas of endeavor which are given credit for
academic equivalences as a means of recognizing learnings acquired outside
the formal school system covering five (5) subject areas: Communication
Arts (English); Sining ng Komunikasyon (Filipino); Mathematics; Araling
Panlipunan or Social Studies and Science.
Those who
wish to take advantage of the PEPT Program are requested to comply with
all the requirements below, fill in application form, and send it or hand
deliver to the Philippine Consulate General or the Bayanihan Center not
later than 30 April 2005. Contact number and addresses are as

Requirements:

birth certificate - issued by the National Statistics Office or duly
authenticated copy from the Local Civil Registrar (original and copy)

last report card from the school – in the absence of the
original report card, a certified true copy of the said school
record issued by the DepEd Division Office (original and copy)

(2) latest identical ID pictures (1×1)

HK ID/valid passport

Registration fee – HK$ 100.00
Review classes will be
conducted at the Bayanihan Centre and review materials on the different
subjects will be made available only for registered applicants.
