Resumption
in the Implementation of ACRI-Card Project
25 February 2005
All registered aliens in the
Philippines are hereby informed that the implementation of the Alien
Certificate of Registration Identity Card (ACR I-Card) Project has been
resumed with immediate effect by virtue of Memorandum Order No. AFF-04-026
dated 10 December 2004 of the Bureau of Immigration of the Philippines,
and the resumption of such project was based on the Department of Justice
(DOJ)’s ruling against the deferment of the implementation of the said
project.
Registered aliens, including
their dependents, who were issued paper-based Alien Certificate of
Registration (ACR) by the Bureau of Immigration of the Philippines as well
as all other aliens who are required to register under the Alien
Registration Act are advised to apply for ACR I-Card until
March 31, 2005.
Failure to apply for an ACR I-Card before the deadline will subject the
registered alien to a penalty as provided for non-compliance, i.e.
administrative fine of P500.00 for every month or fraction thereof of
delay, the sum of which should not exceed P2,000.00.
Those who have been already
issued their ACR I-Cards but were unable to use them due to the deferment
of the implementation of the said project can continue to use them
until
December 31, 2005 or the expiration of their visa,
whichever comes first. Such holders are enjoined to report
to the ACR I-Card Center at the Main Office, Bureau of Immigration,
Intramuros, Manila, Philippines, so that necessary changes in the validity
period of their ACR I-Cards can be reflected.
On the issue of the
issuance/renewal fee of the ACR I-Card, it shall remain at US$50
or its Philippine Peso equivalent as posted in the major Philippine daily
broadsheets at the time of payment.
The ACR I-Card shall be renewed
yearly simultaneous with the payment of the annual report fee.
