PCG Hong Kong Conducts Consular Missions to Macau

The Philippine
Consulate General in Hong Kong conducted its second consular mission to
Macau for 2005 on 25-26 February.
The team was headed by Vice
Consul Noel M. Novicio, together with Consulate personnel.
OWWA representatives Sheila Jaucian and Greg Matubis; SSS representative
Roberto Roldan and Pag-ibig representative Raymond Ramos also joined the
team. PLEO (Philippine Labor Extension Office)-Macau,
headed by Labor Attache Salome S. Mendoza, provided administrative support
to the team.
The consular
mission to Macau is an outreach program of the Consulate General and
attached agencies designed to provide consular assistance and services to
the Filipino community. It is also intended towards providing information
about the various programs and services offered by the Consulate and
attached agencies.
PLEO-Macau
estimated that there are at least 12,000 Filipinos working in the
territory.
In the course of
the two-day consular mission, the following consular-related documents and
services were issued/provided: new passports (103); travel documents (4);
notarials (57); report of birth (6); report of marriage (1); SSS services
(24); and Pag-ibig services (14).
A Consulate
personnel and Labatt Mendoza also
conducted a prison visit to six
(6) Filipino nationals currently incarcerated in Coloane Prison. Four of
the detainees are eligible for parole this year.
The Consulate
General conducted its first consular mission to Macau for 2005 on 28-29
January. The team was led by Consul Ma. Theresa de Vega, together with
Consulate personnel. OWWA Welfare Officer Cynthia Agbuya and SSS
representative Roberto Roldan also joined the team. Among the
consular-related documents and services issued/provided during the two-day
mission were the following: new passports (195); notarials (50); report of
birth (19); and SSS services (22).
During the
mission, the Consular Team held an appreciation ceremony for Labatt
Mendoza and her assistant, Mr. Edgar Mendoza (no relation), in recognition
of the invaluable assistance they have and continue to render in support
of the monthly consular missions to Macau. Placques of appreciation were
handed out to Labatt Mendoza and Mr. Mendoza in the course of the
ceremony.
