14 July 2005

The Philippine Children’s Choir of Mandaluyong  participated in the 2005 World Children’s Choir Festival held at the Hong Kong Cultural Center from 10 to 14 July 2005.

At the opening ceremony on 10 July, the choir, under the baton of Musical Director Sebastian Trinidad, delighted the audience with their repertoire of Ilay Gandangan and Larong Pambata, which was given the longest applause by the audience.

The group joined other choir members in workshops on choral music at the Hong Kong  Baptist University. They also participated in an afternoon free concert at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre foyer much to the enjoyment of young children and old folks alike.

During the Gala Songbridge Concert, the Philippine Children’s Choir joined other choir members from Benin, Canada, China, Finland, and Hong Kong. In a combined mass choir, the Filipino singers joined over 600 children all singing together in different languages, harmony and expressions. The performance was so unique and enjoyable, and much appreciated by the audience.

The Philippine Children’s Choir will depart for Guangzhou, China on 15 July.  In Guangzhou, the choir will participate in concerts with other choirs from Australia, Canada, Finland, and Singapore.  They return to Manila on 20 July.
