Restricted Articles in Hong Kong

All persons, including incoming travellers and transiting Hong Kong, are not allowed to carry or possess the following items:

1.      Dangerous goods, including explosives, fireworks and flares;

2.      Prohibited weapons, including gravity knives and batons;

3.      Arms or ammunitions, including live bullets or cartridges, tear gas and electrical stunning devices.

Some foreign travelers, who are not aware of these prohibitions, have been detained or fined for possessing some of the above articles during security screening at the Hong Kong International Airport. 

According to the Hong Kong police, any person who has possession of restricted items commits and offense and is liable to legal prosecution.
