Concert In the Park Goes to Piazza 2006

The “2006 Concert in the Park” will be held on 19 November 2006, from 2 pm to 7 pm, at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in Kowloon. A free concert, it is organized jointly by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong and the Philippine Consulate General, in cooperation with Hong Kong-based Filipino musicians. 

This year’s concert will feature bands from the Hong Kong Musicians Union and the Filipino Musicians Club. DJs Stan Yumang and Mel Lirio of “Good Evening Kabayan” program will host the program. 

The Hong Kong government’s support for the Concert in the Park is an indication of its high regard for the talent and artistry of Filipino musicians. This year’s theme is “Music, the Language of the World.”

The first part of the concert will feature bands which are members of the Hong Kong Musician’s Union, such as the Hong Kong Musicians Fusion Band, Giga beats and Square Eyes. Members of the Filipino Musicians Club, on the other hand, will play in the second part which will include the FMC Band, Reandeau Ramos and his Family Band  and  Voltaire and Danny’s Friends Band.

The Concert has been staged yearly for more than ten years now, except in 2004, when no performance was held.
