52 NEW TEACHERS TAKE THEIR OATH AT THE PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL IN HONG KONG

All Fifty-two (52) new teachers took their oath on 12 December 2004 at the
Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong
The new teachers include 49 examinees who passed the 3rd Licensure Examinations for
Teachers in Hong Kong given last 29 August 2004, and three others who passed
previous examinations in Hong Kong. The successful examinees include 39 elementary
and 13 high school teachers. Consul General Corazon Belmonte-Jover administered
the oath to the new teachers.
The 3rd Licensure Examination For Teachers in Hong Kong was successfully conducted
in Hong Kong SAR through the efforts of the National Organization of Professional
Teachers – Hong Kong (NOPT-HK) Chapter in coordination with the Bayanihan
Foundation, First Metro-Hong Kong, and the Philippine Consulate General in Hong
Kong.
In her message to the new teachers who are working in Hong Kong as household
employees, Consul General Jover lauded them for their achievement and the
opportunity to be able to influence the lives of many Filipino children.
“Because you are teachers, you can make a difference,” Consul General Jover
said. “The world can be a better place because of you.”
Echoing the Consul General’s message, Ms. Alcestis Guiang, chair of the
Professional Regulation Commission, enjoined the new teachers to uphold the
highest standard of professionalism to help their future students shape a bright
future for the country.
The new teachers were also inducted as new members of the National Organization of
Professional Teachers-Hong Kong Chapter (NOPT-HK). Mrs. Lolit Braña, president of
NOPT-HK, administered the oath to the new members.
“Your hardship will lead you to a better future and prepare you for greater
challenges in entering into the new stage of your career,” Mrs. Braña told the
new teachers.
