Visit of Mr. Efren "Bata" Reyes at the Philippine Consulate General Hong Kong SAR

Efren “Bata” Reyes’ inclusion in Time magazine’s “60 years of Asian heroes” is a fitting tribute for someone who could easily be one of the world’s greatest pool players of all time.

Through his extraordinary talent and tremendous dedication to his craft, Reyes has single-handedly showed to the world that the Filipino sportsman is indeed world-class.

We cherish his achievements. But more importantly, we admire his humility, a trait which has become scarce these days. He remains the embodiment of a true Filipino sports hero, inspiring countless of Filipino children, who consider him their role model.

We at the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong are privileged to have been visited by him, thanks to the officials of San Miguel Brewery, Hong Kong Ltd., who accompanied him. True to his reputation as a humble world champion, he gamely posed for pictures with members of the Filipino community and Consulate personnel during his short visit.
